Paper Straw Line

Fully automated paper straw manufacturing

Australians use about 10 million straws every day, or 3.5 billion a year.
Most are used just once – for around 15-30 minutes, after which they are discarded, and when brought to recycling centres, with the typical weight and size of a straw, the straws often pass through the material sorter to be placed in landfills.
Is there a more sustainable solution? We believe there is – paper straws!

The IMA T&T SF-150 straw forming (converting) and SW-2000 wrapping machines produce spiral straws with a large variety of materials, satisfying every need whilst maintaining a high-quality level and impressive speeds.

The forming machine receives paper strips from the reel/web and it forms the straw applying cold glue between the layers. It features a linear tube speed of over 120 m/min and a frequency of over 800 cuts/min.

Straw Configurations

Both the forming and wrapping machines are available to cater to several different straw configurations:

  • Straight
  • Straight with inclined cut
  • Bended (Corrugated)
  • Crimped
  • Single or double ladder band
